Are permits necessary to rent a dumpster?
In some cases, yes. It depends on where you will be placing the dumpster. According to the City of Elizabeth’s Bureau of Construction, you only need a permit if you plan on placing the roll-off container on a city street. If you place the dumpster within your own property limits and out of the public right of way, you do not need a dumpster permit. However, if you do not have adequate driveway or property space to place a temporary dumpster, then a permit will need to be obtained. There is an application and permit fee of $100.
